A protest was held in front of the headquarters of the International Bureau of Exhibitions in Paris today by the informal organization Paris 11:52, which has sent a petition to the body to cancel Expo 2027 in Belgrade. The group emphasizes that the authorities in Serbia want to enrich themselves even more and “put people in danger for the umpteenth time.” “The end of Expo means the end of the current government,” the organization Paris 11:52 states.

The Paris 11.52 group stated in a statement sent to the media that, “given the tragedy in Novi Sad, it is clear that the authorities in Serbia are putting citizens in danger for the sake of personal interest”.
“We have gathered today for the tenth anniversary. As on previous Saturdays, we paid tribute to the victims in Novi Sad, sent a message of support to the students”, the statement on the protest, which was also attended by representatives of the organization “Reporters Without Borders”, stated.

It added that “under normal circumstances, it would be an honor and a privilege to organize the Expo and present the rich history of Serbia to everyone in the world”.

“But Serbia is currently in the midst of a deep constitutional crisis. In November 2024, at 11:52, what we have all suspected for years was revealed – the government in Serbia is putting its citizens in danger for the sake of its own interests,” the informal organization states.

It adds that the protests in Serbia “have shown that the government does not shy away from anything, including violence, in order to stay in power for a few more years and reap the benefits of building Expo 2027. “

“In the meantime, students of the Faculty of Architecture have also presented numerous pieces of evidence of the harmfulness of this project. The situation is clear – the government wants to enrich itself even more and for the umpteenth time put people in danger. The end of Expo also means the end of the current government,” emphasizes the Paris 11.52 group.

“That is why a few days ago we sent a letter to the Secretary General of the International Bureau for Exhibitions (Bureau International des Expositions) and reminded him of all the facts, with a request to cancel the Expo,” the informal Paris 11.52 group announced.
