In the Block 42, part of Novi Beograd, works on the construction of the station building of the New Belgrade Railway Station have been going on for weeks, and Miloš Vučković from the association Naša mesna zajednica (NMZ) told TV Nova that a construction permit has not yet been issued for those works.

The plot on which the station building of the New Belgrade Railway Station should be built by 2027 in Milutina Milankovića Street is surrounded by a metal fence and construction work has been going on for a long time, but without a building permit.

At least that’s what Miloš Vučković from the association “Naša mesna zajednica” claims, who explained to TV Nova that by looking at the Central Register of Unified Procedures (CEOP) it can be seen that location conditions have been issued for plot 2871/17, but no building permit.

“The location conditions are not a building permit, but the basis for issuing a building permit and issuing approval for works. On the CEOP system of the Republic of Serbia, where all the data are located, there are location conditions, where you can clearly see the plots behind us, that they have been approved for the construction of a new railway station. But as I said, there is no building permit,” Vučković pointed out and announced that for this reason the association “Naša mesna zajednica” will submit a report to the building inspection.

Vučković reminded that the former Minister of Construction, Goran Vesić, signed a contract with the Chinese company Shandong for Europe in October of last year, on the construction of the train station complex in New Belgrade with the reconstruction of the bridge structure, worth 138 million euros.

He emphasized that it is currently unknown whether the works in Block 42 are being carried out by the Shandong company, its subcontractors or a third party, but that it “certainly causes concern, because we know what happened in Novi Sad “.

“We are now in a situation where we can logically conclude what is being built here, but it is inadmissible according to the laws, especially after what happened in Novi Sad, to carry out works like this, in fact, illegally,” said Vučković.

The new station building will have an area of 17,000 square meters and, according to earlier announcements by the authorities, it should be ready before the start of the international exhibition EXPO 2027.

A residential tower should be built on the plot next to the future New Belgrade Railway Station, which was previously written about by the weekly Radar, but, as explained by Vučković, it is a private investment that is not part of the new station building project. Location conditions have also been issued for the mentioned tower, but no construction permit, and currently no work is being carried out on its construction.
