Retaining walls and part of the access road near the scientific complex in Kragujevac are collapsing

This morning, the retaining walls and part of the access road collapsed at the Center of Excellence complex in Kragujevac.
As reported by Glas Šumadije , landslides are becoming more frequent, and the stability of the terrain is still at risk, which is causing dissatisfaction and concern among citizens.
The Center of Excellence in Kragujevac is a scientific complex of the University of Kragujevac, whose construction began in 2015 and the plan was to complete the works by the end of 2017, but the contractor went bankrupt.
As the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović pointed out in 2023, during a tour of the construction of the Center, the state had invested 14 million euros by then, and the Center was in the final phase and was supposed to open in the summer.
The Center of Excellence consists of three parts: bioengineering, biomedicine, and stem cell research.
She also stated that another four million euros would be allocated for financing equipment. She stated that 650,000 euros have currently been invested in the construction of “clean rooms” for stem cell research, and that projects for the interior furnishing of the Center are in the final stages.
